George Charles Boulevard is an inner city community faced with a number of social ills. Lack of the basic amenities of water and access to sanitation affects the socio-economic situation of the residents. The community’s stand pipe and general area are used for personal hygiene activities and washing, as showers and toilets do not form part of their dwellings. The residents thus engage in poor waste disposal practices which make the community unsanitary as faeces can be found in and out of nylon bags around the community.
This large sub project will improve the sanitary condition of the community through the construction of a public facility and skills training will improve the economic opportunities of residents. his project is funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB)/Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) Program 7 and the Government of St. Lucia at a cost of USD 250,650.00/EC$ 675,477.00
